About Rakashi Chand

As a community Leader, public speaker and cultural advocate, I have organized numerous community focused and educational events. During my years as President and vice President of the United India Association of New England, I organized over twenty different events to promote and advocate for Indian culture in America, connecting our community, helping to educate our youth, and bring greater unity and strength to the Indian diaspora in New England. I currently serve on Attorney General Maura Healey\'s Advisory Board for New Americans to advocate for the Indian Community in Massachusetts. I am a Trustee of the Jackson Homestead and Historic Newton, a member of the Newton Cultural Council and a Human Rights Commissioner for the City of Newton. A versatile professional with over twenty years of experience in the library and public history fields, I am skilled in public service, community engagement and staff management. I possess a proven ability to build strong relationships across diverse communities, communicate effectively at all levels and I strive to inspire my team by creating a positive and encouraging work environment. I take pride in connecting with our patrons and providing them with an unparalleled research experience at the Massachusetts Historical Society. I look forward to connecting with you.
