A purpose-driven professional passionate about solving the climate crisis. Learning about the threats that climate change poses to the world, I was motivated to learn at length about how climate risks affect business decisions, via a Master’s in the Economics of Energy, Climate Change, and Sustainability. My career brings me a deep knowledge of modeling and assessing financial risk in the reinsurance and life insurance sector, as well as as evaluating operational strategy in the oil & gas energy sector. I hope to use these climate skills to drive meaningful change as an actuary in the reinsurance sector.Some achievements that I\'m proud of:Advising Management – Led a risk assessment of the dividend scale, evaluating various factors, like mortality and lapse, to present recommendations that led to a 3% interest rate decrease in the $1B+ dividend portfolio. This was during the COVID-19 pandemic when competitors were making larger decreases in their rates, resulting in lower, unfavorable, returns to customers.Price Modeling – Modeled pricing structure for policies to hedge impacts of market competition and other profitability risks.
