Raj Nair is Chief Executive Officer at Singer Vehicle Design. Founded in California in 2009, Singer represents a philosophy expressed as A Relentless Pursuit of Excellence. The company has become renowned for its collaboration with owners of the air-cooled Porsche 911 to reimagine bespoke restorations. Singer’s automotive services enable owners to restore beautiful, analogue sports cars for the road and track.Prior to his role at Singer, Nair was President and Chief Operating Officer of Multimatic Inc. and he remains an Executive Advisor to the company. Multimatic is a privately held, global enterprise supplying engineered components, systems, and services to the automotive industry. Multimatic\'s core competencies include the engineering and manufacturing of complex mechanisms, body hardware, suspension systems and body structures, as well as the design and development of lightweight composite automotive systems. In addition, Multimatic delivers niche vehicle design, development, and production for road and race applications.Nair retired from Ford Motor Company in 2018 as executive vice president and president of North America and was responsible for leading all aspects of Ford’s North American business units.Previously, Nair was executive vice president, Product Development, and chief technical officer (CTO) and had global responsibility for all aspects of the company’s design, engineering, research and product development, and played a key role in the company’s expansion into emerging mobility opportunities. Prior to 2012 as vice president of Engineering for Product Development, Nair oversaw all engineering for car, truck and SUV vehicles for the Ford and Lincoln brands. Previously, Nair served for three years as vice president, Operations, Asia Pacific and was responsible for Product Development, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality and Information Technology within the Asia Pacific region. He also has worked in senior positions in Europe and South America. Nair holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with an automotive specialty from Kettering University in Flint, Michigan. In 2018, he was inducted into the National Academy of Engineering. Nair was named the recipient of the 2017 Kettering Distinguished Alumni Award. In 2014, he was named the Fortune Automotive Businessperson of the Year. Nair is also the Chairman of the INDYCAR Officiating Board, on the Board of Trustees of Kettering University, and an Emeritus Board Director of the Autism Alliance of Michigan.
