About Rajasekhara Mummadi
From a hedgehog to a fox to a chimera of hedgehog and fox- is how I would describe my career journey. As the American Philosopher Isiah Berlin wrote, hedgehogs thrive in a single grand idea framework, whereas foxes are flexible learners with different strategies for different problems. From the hedgehog style of single-minded focus on delivering excellent patient care through my gastroenterology practice, I have grown to learn and appreciate the fox’s multi-pronged strategy of population medicine, patient safety science, predictive analytics, improvement of patient and provider experience to achieve the quadruple aim in my role as the Chief Quality Officer for Northwest Permanente. All the learnings eventually coalesce to serve one singular idea of improving the quality and affordability of health care delivered in a joyful work environment. In my role as the Chief Quality Officer for Oregon’s largest medical group, I had the unique opportunity to work with and learn from some of the best minds in population health, quality, and patient safety. In my role, I have had the privilege of leading cross-functional multi-disciplinary teams working closely with health plan partners to drive quality improvement efforts. In the process, I enjoyed the close relationships and connections I fostered with my team members as much as the technical success of the projects Some of the projects I successfully led are 1) Predictive risk stratification in safely reopening elective care after Covid-19 surge2) Adoption of a new dynamic population segmentation system to effectively predict the needs of KP NorthWest’s members 3) Advocated for and championed regional predictive analytics.machine learning strategy portfolio and governance 4) Reducing diagnostic harm through the strengthening of safety net systemsWhen I am not working, I enjoy hiking the Pacific Northwest\'s glorious outdoors and relaxing in the evening with a book in my hand by the fireplace. If health care quality improvement is your passion, let us connect to learn from each other.
