ABOUT RAJIVE RANJAN
After earning my Master’s in Engineering from Magdeburg, formerly East Germany, I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey in 1989 by establishing a manufacturing unit in India. In the wake of the Berlin Wall’s fall in 1990, I recognized the emerging opportunities in a reunified Germany and founded my first company in Berlin, marking the beginning of my European business ventures.In 2002, I founded Techno Lifestyle GmbH & Co. KG, a design-led sourcing company catering to major European retailers and brands. Building on this success and anticipating global market shifts, I established Design Pod Limited in Hong Kong in 2006, strategically expanding our sourcing and design capabilities across Asia.In 2008, I took my first step into direct retail management by acquiring Wehmeyer Lifestyle GmbH, a 23-store fashion retail chain in Germany, formerly part of Karstadt. My vision was to transform Wehmeyer through vertical integration, ensuring that the majority of the company’s assortment comprised private-label products sourced through our own network. This strategy was designed to streamline operations, strengthen margins, and accelerate speed to market, bringing Wehmeyer in line with the efficient and profitable practices of leading global chains such as H&M and Zara. After the retail operations were sold in 2011, I entered into a joint venture with s.Oliver, one of Germany’s leading fashion brands, to build and expand the retail operations of the brand in India.At the same time, my partner Pallak Seth invited me to visit his sourcing infrastructure in Sri Lanka. Recognizing the opportunities, we co-founded Techno Design HK Limited in 2012 and Techno Design GmbH in 2014. Both companies are joint ventures with PDS Ltd, establishing a vertically integrated, end-to-end supply chain platform for apparel, home textiles, and hard goods. Today, we operate across India, Bangladesh, China, Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey, serving some of the world’s most respected brands and retailers.The operations of Techno Lifestyle GmbH & Co. KG were subsequently merged with Techno Design GmbH, and Techno Lifestyle now provides advisory services. I am currently a member of the Advisory Board of Lerros and take pride in contributing to its continued success.Beyond business, I’m deeply passionate about innovation, leadership, and cross-cultural collaboration. I believe that the best ideas emerge where people, purpose, and progress intersect — and I enjoy conversations that explore exactly that.
