Ms. Raji Vishwanathan ~ 37 years of corporate experience and is currently the designated Group General Counsel at Centrum Group of companies with a portfolio of the legal and compliance functions. She is also a Wholetime Director on the Board of Directors of Centrum Finverse Limited.Since March 2017, when she joined, she has led the legal, secretarial and compliance initiative in significant corporate strategy events (all in-house effort), setting up and operationalising of the asset management business entities including venture capital fund both on-shore and off-shore, is actively involved in policy drafting, framing robust corporate governance processes, implementation and monitoring.Ms. Vishwanathan was the designated Group General Counsel for L&T Financial Services from June 2006 and she retired in June 2016. She had the overall responsibility for the financial services legal function, inter alia, covering wholesale and retail banking, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, asset management, insurance, infrastructure finance, IDF, PE Fund, Treasury, Housing finance and litigation. Her association with Larsen & Toubro (“L&T”) began in November 2001, providing legal support to various business verticals. During her stint at L&T (between 2001 & 2006), most of the significant events were supported and handled by her, including cement demerger, divestment of joint ventures, sale of the Ready-mix Cement business and complex litigations.From June 2006, when financial services became a distinct business vertical of L&T (“LTFS”), she assumed the role and responsibility of Group General Counsel, which included building from scratch, a proficient, professional and robust legal department (Litigation team & Corporate team). She was an active member of several credit and risk management committees in the retail banking business and a permanent invitee to the credit committee of the wholesale banking business. She was a member of the board of some of the LTFS entities.Ms. Vishwanathan started her corporate career with Britannia Industries Limited in November 1986, where she worked until the year 1998. Thereafter, she was associated with Batliboi Environmental Engineering Limited for about 2 years. This was followed by a short stint at Jain Irrigation Systems Limited, where she led the team responsible for the restructuring of the Company at the time when the Company had become potentially sick.Ms. Vishwanathan holds a BSc degree in Microbiology, Diploma in Business Management and a Master’s degree in Constitutional Law and International Law.
