ABOUT RAJI RAMACHANDRAN

I am a professional singer trained in carnatic and hindustani classical music. I have been professionally trained under my Guru, Shantha Venkataraman and Jayalakshmi Balasundaram in Bombay and Chennai, India. I hail from a South Indian family of musically inclined cholars and am a proud grand daughter of Dr.Sivaramamurti,an internationally acclaimed authority on Indian Art.I have performed in All India Radio - youth programs, Chennai and received many accolades from Peers and many organizations. I was called the \"Queen of Music of MOP Vaishnav College\" by the director of Music from Chennai TV Station, who was presiding over the Annual Prize Distribution function, as I had won first prize for the 11th time that day in various music competition held during that year in my college. I have been performing for more than 20 years and have performed with many playback singers. I have performed in Bombay, Chennai, New York, Michigan, Buffalo,Mexico, Alberta, Montreal, Ottawa, Sarnia, London and Toronto. Have done many jingles and professional recordings over years. I enjoy singing a wide variety of styles, including South Indian classical and Bollywood music and in different languages. I also teach classical music at home and have around 15 students taking vocal training from me.I have been performing in various languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marati, Gujrathi and Punjabi.I Love travelling and spending time with my family. I enjoy challenges and performing.I am always excited when the weekend is approaching as I get to meet and make new friends! Life is all about learning and I feel I learn a lot from the talented musicians I get to perform with. It gives me inner peace by sharing happiness thru music.
