ABOUT RAJESH GOPIE
I am a professional actor, playwright as well as qualified acting teacher and presently is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. My qualifications include a Masters degree in actor training and coaching from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, UK. I am also a recipient of the prestigious Oppenheimer and Guildford Scholarships. As an actor I have worked across theatre, film, TV and radio. Its has been my good fortune that my work has travelled to countries around the globe, performing and conducting workshops. Most people will know me for the multi- award winning solo play- Out of Bounds, which was seen and supported by luminaries such as Nelson Mandela and Nadine Gordimer. In 2015 I launched the Actorwize Acting Academy that offers a world class brand of actor training to students in South Africa. The name Actorwize suggests sensitivity and common sense- and fits the brand of training. In my training, the emphasis is placed on the physical blocks which stop the instinctual body from doing what it should do naturally. However, fear and bad experiences which plague our lives result in psychological blocks which prevent the actor from reaching full potential. It is ground breaking and at the very edge of neuro-scientific research coming out of Royal Central School of Drama- leading research/practioners in performance training. In addition, I work one on one coaching as well as group coaching with corporate clients wanting to improve their public confidence and interpersonal skills. Here I work similarly to my work with actors, unblocking the body of fear before skills can be infused. It has been invaluable empowerment and life changing to my clients. As an actor, I work on interesting projects in film and theatre which keep me in tune with my own training and expertise. I don\'t just \"preach\", I do, and I am on a constant learning curve and personal training regime. This is the beauty of living- constant learning and self improvement. Be the best!
