About Rajesh Vasudevan

With over 30 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Management, I currently serve as Vice President of EHS and ESG at Cipla, where I lead a team of 150+ professionals across global API and formulation sites. My mission is to align the organization’s EHS/ESG vision with its broader purpose, driving initiatives to achieve zero incidents, legal compliance, and carbon-neutral, water-neutral, and zero waste-to-landfill status. Key responsibilities include guiding decarbonization strategies to meet Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) goals and embedding sustainability at all levels. In prior leadership roles, I successfully implemented global EHS policies and standards, integrated safety and sustainability strategies across manufacturing sites, and fostered a culture of zero incidents. My efforts have consistently resulted in operational resilience, regulatory compliance, and enhanced ESG performance.    Leading Global EHS & Sustainability across multiple API and Formulation sites in India and internationally, with direct and indirect oversight of a 150+ member professional team. Spearheading the development and execution of a unified EHS/ESG vision aligned with organizational purpose and long-term strategy, under the governance of the Managing Council, Management Leadership Team (MLT), Stakeholder Relations Committee (SRC), and the Insurance & Risk Management Committee.Driving operational excellence through the 3Ps framework—Plant, People, and Process—with a focused mission of achieving Zero Incidents and 100% legal compliance. Steering Cipla’s journey towards becoming carbon-neutral, water-neutral, and zero waste-to-landfill, while formulating a robust decarbonization roadmap to align with SBTi net-zero targets.Accountable for defining, implementing, and monitoring enterprise-wide risk management standards, leveraging both lead and lag indicators to ensure proactive and reactive controls. Leading multiple digital interventions—including work permit automation, incident and inspection systems, competency management, and digital safety committee dashboards—impacting employees and partners.Driving external ESG benchmarking and disclosures through leadership of DJSI, CDP, EcoVadis, and BRSR reporting. Additionally, spearheading Cipla’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program via a dedicated PSM team and a state-of-the-art Process Safety Lab, with a strong focus on powder safety and industrial hazard mitigation.
