Reflections on My Work with the National Mental Health Survey-2 Ministry of health government of India (NMHS-2) I feel grateful to be part of the National Mental Health Survey-2 (NMHS-2) at AIIMS Patna, a project of national importance aimed at generating robust evidence on the prevalence and burden of mental health conditions across India.In this role, I have been deeply involved in: Conducting field surveys using structured instruments (ICD-11, FLII-11) to assess psychiatric disorders. Engaging with diverse communities to build trust and ensure accurate data collection. Training and supporting field investigators for maintaining quality and reliability of data. Collaborating with researchers and mental health professionals to contribute towards evidence-based policymaking.This journey has not only enhanced my technical skills in research, monitoring, and data validation, but also strengthened my understanding of the social dimensions of mental health—particularly stigma, accessibility, and community-level awareness.I believe such initiatives are critical to shaping inclusive public health strategies, bridging the treatment gap, and ensuring that mental health receives the priority it deserves in India’s development agenda.
