Rajan Datar is an award-winning, versatile international broadcaster, public speaker and conference moderator. A current affairs journalist who is now one of the most recognisable faces of international TV travelogues - latest programmes on the BBC: Barcelona City of Gaudi (Feb 2026) The Great British Seaside resort, Bosnia, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka - 70 half hour BBC docs in total. In May 2024 he presented the highly acclaimed 3 part special on BBC Radio 4,\"The Tourist Trap\" on the pressures record-breaking tourist numbers are imposing on popular destinations, local communities and the environment. In September 2024 he was a special guest on Trevor Noah\'s What Now podcast ( previous guests Bill Gates, Roger Federer). In February 2026 a key note speech at Forbes Travel Summit in Monaco. He has presented 100 editions of the BBC World Service’s The Forum ( similar to R4’s In Our Time) and a thousand editions of the weekly listener feedback programme Over To You and numerous R4 documentaries and stints as host of The Media Show and Front Row on R4. For 7 years he was a reporter on current affairs strands Newsnight and The Money Programme on BBC2. He also moderates conferences and literary festivals (including Hay) around the world. Founder/Bass Player of Maroon Town, globetrotting ska and reggae 8-piece for 35 years! In May 2025 he delivered a speech on the Psychology of Travel to Radisson Hotels\' global conference in Berlin.
