In my current role, I have gained hands-on experience in working with farmers and spice crops across different regions of India. I began by working on cumin production in Rajasthan, where I studied the major diseases and pests affecting the crop and learned about best practices for sustainable cultivation. Building on this, I am now working closely with farmers engaged in turmeric production across southern states of India. This involves understanding region-specific varieties, monitoring crop health, addressing key pest and disease challenges, and supporting farmers in adopting sustainable and organic practices. Alongside, I am actively involved in the certification processes that ensure the spices meet organic and quality standards. This experience has not only deepened my technical knowledge of spice crops but has also strengthened my ability to engage with farmers, promote sustainable farming systems, and contribute to value chain development in the spice sector.
