I am Raj, Junior Engineer at JSW Steel Dolvi, Maharashtra, currently working in the Bar Mill (1.4 MTPA, Bar Mill – Danieli Italy) with a focus on Reheating Furnace Operations and Mechanical Maintenance. Shift In-charge – Responsible for overall furnace operation activities. Ensuring smooth and safe operation of the furnace by monitoring temperature, gas and fuel flow rates, and pressure levels within the required parameters. Optimizing fuel consumption by adjusting fuel and air flow to achieve efficient heating conditions, minimizing energy waste, and preventing unplanned shutdowns. Conducting inspections of refractory lining, combustion system, fans, and other equipment to identify early signs of wear, damage, or malfunction.Key Responsibilities: Cold start-up, charging, and discharging of billets using PPMS and Level-2 Systems. Inventory management and production monitoring, including reporting and analytics to track performance and identify improvement areas. Proper billet stacking, material availability planning, and inventory control to avoid production delays. Regular review of inventory levels and adjustment as per production demand. Effective shift planning, employee management, and coordination to ensure smooth operations.Maintenance Activities:Routine cleaning of burners and checking of fuel supply.Inspection of refractory lining, temperature, and pressure monitoring.Regular observation of cooling zones, including water trough systems.Maintenance of furnace entry and discharging areas.Maintenance of pawl transfer, chain elevator, billet deposition unit, roller tables, aligning machine, kickoff machine, spindle, and gear systems.
