ABOUT RAIHAN ABDUL VAHEED
From a young age, I’ve been fascinated with numbers; it appealed to my logical mind. On my way home from school, I’d check the number plates of vehicles around me to see if they were divisible by prime numbers. As I grew, so did my passion for maths. I was enthralled by the challenge posed by convoluted equations and the immense satisfaction I gained when I solved them. Supplementing my love for mathematics was my fascination with computer programming. Using online resources, I picked up programming languages like R and Python. I enjoyed the freedom to express ideas through coding and how I could simplify intricate problems into concise programs. Finding a common ground between my interests led to my discovery of Computer science. Over the course of my internships I have developed an immense interest in running statistical analysis of medical data and spent hours preprocessing and managing data. I am proud of the fact that I was able to assemble a powerful computer to run datasets at thrice the speed of standard laptops. I am currently focusing my passion towards neuroimaging but hope to broaden my horizons in the future Through computer science, I want to innovate. I want to use powerful tools and data analysis to do novel things such as create neural network systems and data analysis pipelines. To realise my dreams I\'m currently studying in the University of Waterloo\'s Computer Science Co-op program and I hope to make an impact from there.
