With CrowdStrike, I worked with how machine learning methods like clustering and similarity analysis can be applied to detect malicious activity using behavioral data collected through system monitoring. Mentored by Greg Dalcher (Principal Research Engineer), I evaluated several approaches like multi-class classification, topological data analysis (TDA), and how the inclusion of temporal data can help to uncover emerging trends and anomalies. My work specifically focused on feature selection, attribution, and model interpretability, helping to answer the question of why a system reached a particular conclusion. Using Python and leading data science libraries, I developed tools and methods to assess the efficacy of different algorithms, while strengthening my expertise in cybersecurity, data science, and applied machine learning research.
