ABOUT SHOPTORSHI RAHMAN
Dr. Rahman has a PhD in HRD, an MBA and a BBA focused in HRM+MRKT. She investigated how engineering professionals develop their leadership and management skills in organizations to recommend HRD interventions. She has over six years of experience in career development, academic advising, and leadership development. She leverages her research skills and applied experiences to critically analyze phenomena in context. Before transitioning to academia, she gained over four years of banking experience in the FinTech industry. Shoptorshi values learning, teaching, and advising college students with informed and up-to-date techniques/resources to empower them to discover their full potential for holistic academic success, career readiness, and personal well-being. She has founded and facilitated various leadership development programs for diverse students, including international, first-generation, and students with disabilities. She has acquired valuable technology HR experience. As an Enterprise Research Analyst at State Farm R&D, she conducted empirical research to better understand preferences for hybrid work arrangements in FinTech organizations. During her tenure as an Instructional Designer at AbbVie, she revamped training modules of agile software development for onboarding newly recruited technical professionals. Shoptorshi has received numerous awards, including the MuKeun Lee Dissertation Award, the Foreign Language Areas of Studies (FLAS) Fellowship, the Hove Graduate Scholarship Award, and the Block Grant. She is also the recipient of the FABAC-Tomlinson Fellowship for the 20••••23 academic year. She is an active member of the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD) and a certified peer reviewer for leading scholarly journals such as Human Resource Development International (HRDI) and Human Resource Development Review (HRDR). Besides, she is a practitioner and research contributor for the National Career Development Association (NCDA).
