Kincise (JnJ - Nov 22 - Mar 23)** The KINCISE™ Surgical Automated System is designed to replace the handheld mallet traditionally used in Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA). This automated technology helps surgeons deliver consistent energy while automating bone preparation, implant positioning, and assembly.**Work Highlights:**- The initial version of Kincise only featured impaction output, which required a redesign due to sterilization challenges and the complexity of components- The new design supports impaction for implant insertion, rotational motion for reaming, and oscillatory motion for bone cutting- The impaction system is adjustable with variable strokes of 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm, and it can detect when full impaction is achieved, gradually reducing the impaction rate as completion approaches- Components are designed to withstand sterilization, solving issues faced with the pneumatic system in the original design- A gyroscopic-like feature was introduced, allowing the impaction tool to tilt based on the surgeon\'s handling angle.**Radial Head Replacement Surgery Kits (JnJ - Nov 22 - Mar 23)** Radial head replacement surgery treats severe fractures or damage to the radial head in the elbow joint. It is typically performed when the radial head is shattered or irreparable with screws or plates.**Work Highlights:**- Developed 23 components including 5 sounders, 1 quick coupler, 1 planner, 10 heads, and 6 spacers- Created a unified core marrow pushing unit by coupling the quick coupler with the base sounder- Reduced complexity by consolidating 13 trial sets into 3, using previous sounders for precision- Designed loose-fit implants stabilized by constant force springs for enhanced stability and longevity.**Patient-Specific Implant (JnJ - Nov 22 - Mar 23)- Supportive Project** Patient-specific cranial implants are custom-made medical devices used in reconstructive surgery to repair or replace cranial bone.
