The common thread across my careers in retail grocery, apparel and manufacturing has been the ability to step in with little experience, adapt quickly and utilize endless creativity to find meaningful solutions in complex environments. I grew up in retail grocery, the son of a chain grocery store owner in Los Angeles. At ten years old, my first job was in his stores, where I fell in love with every aspect of the business. Establishing my own career as an award-winning chef and building a family business from small-time to a national success, food was my true passion, and I knew that someday I would return to retail grocery. My years with Whole Foods Markets were a golden time, when my skills in both leadership and operations were fully utilized and constantly developed.Manufacturing• Led shoe manufacturing company to 87% growth in revenue over 20 years, from $350k in sales per month to $2.75M through strategic scalability and contract establishment with distributors including Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dillard\'s, JCPenny, Nine West and Zappos• Led change management to new electronic systems to maintain industry leadership during a time of exponential company growth• Added retail ops to manufacturing/distribution company, led 16 store openings in 8 years, from initial architectural drawings through installation, proprietary POS system, and staffing, establishing a new revenue stream of approximately $12.5M per yearRetail Grocery• Oversaw 22 Whole Foods Market Stores Prepared Foods departments, leading all departments to consistent 10-12% monthly revenue growth• Designed and implemented forecasting system for strategic purchasing, resulting in a significant reduction in spoilage, increasing accuracy of yield from 40-50% to 98%• Contracted to provide expertise and leadership in all areas of restaurant design and operations• Identified and transitioned 12 non-cost-effective items to vendors, saving 20% in labor, maintaining sales and increased overall consistency
