Rafael brings over 22 years\' experience in community economic development, having worked with community development credit unions nationally, alongside nearly a decade of philanthropic work as a foundation program officer in California. His work has focused on community economic development broadly, with expertise in asset-building, entrepreneurship and workforce development, affordable housing and foreclosure prevention, and community organizing and policy, centered on strengthening the economic stability and access to opportunity for diverse working families and communities. As Director of Philanthropy, he leads the national fundraising strategy to deepen and strengthen CRL\'s research, on-the-ground organizing, and policy work across the U.S. to protect consumers at the local, state and national levels, alongside targeted litigation to combat the wealth-stripping effects of predatory lenders. By augmenting the efforts of community organizers and advocates, CRL seeks to create the conditions that allow diverse working families to thrive and achieve their life goals and aspirations.
