About Rafael Francisco Perez

Hi all! My name is Rafael, and I am from the Hayes Valley neighborhood in San Francisco! I am a community-oriented, dedicated, and spirited third-year student double-majoring in HCI Informatics and Game Design with a minor in Chicano/Latino Studies at UC Irvine. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring my hometown, and music (I am a founder and guitarist for a Mariachi group!)My passion for technology started at a young age. Watching my father build computers and play video games, I always knew I wanted to be part of the technology industry. However, as a Latino student, I have recognized the lack of opportunities for Latino students in tech. Since working as a Student Leader at Mission Bit, I have become dedicated to creating a better space for my community. This role has inspired me to promote technology education in underserved communities and ensure everyone has access to valuable learning resources. I have developed strong leadership, technical, and teamwork skills and am eager to give back to my community.
