About Rafael Carlos Catalan

As an individual with strong aspirations in the Accounting field, I\'m a highly procedural person committed to achieving the best outcome possible. Most importantly, I have a strong passion for collaboration and helping others. As a Black-Belt in Judo, I\'ve practiced the martial art sport for over 12 years, competed and won various state and national tournaments, worked with various Judo practitioners, helped them improve their skills, and watched their potentials grow. Since then, I’ve lived by the same Judo philosophy that I’ve applied in my personal life and professional career: If we all work together, we will all get better. As the Standard Chair of my fraternity, I was given the privilege to oversee and collaborate with the Judicial Committee to redesign our entire judicial proceedings, communicate expectations clearly, and decrease finable offenses. As the Corporate Accounting Intern for Berry Global Inc, I assisted and worked with the External Reporting and Compliance team to accelerate reports and improve time efficiency during their fiscal quarter-end. Finally, as the President of the Judo Club at IU, I continued my service to others by passing down my knowledge in the martial arts while delivering a fun, enriching environment. I look forward to continuing fulfilling my passion for Collaboration and Service as I begin my professional career with KPMG US as an Advisory Associate in their Federal IA & ER practice.
