ABOUT RAFAEL O. RUIZ
With over 20 years of experience spanning the U.S. and Latin America, I bridge the gap between classical mechanics and data-driven innovation. My research lies at the intersection of Structural Dynamics, Uncertainty Quantification, and Computational Mechanics, where I develop robust models to predict complex behaviors in mechanical metamaterials and energy harvesting systems.I specialize in navigating the unknown—using Stochastic Simulation and Surrogate Modeling to solve problems where data is scarce or uncertainty is high.Core Technical Expertise- Mechanics: Vibrations, Structural Dynamics, Fracture Mechanics- Computational: Uncertainty Quantification (UQ), Surrogate Modeling, Optimization- Innovation: Mechanical Metamaterials, Energy Harvesting.Beyond the equations, I am a dedicated educator. I believe that \"failure\" is merely data for the learning process. My mentoring approach combines rigorous technical training with the soft skills needed to thrive in engineering—helping students manage pressure, discover their unique value, and turn their personal stories into professional assets.
