About Rafael Rossini Parisi

Rafael is an attorney and business professional whose primary expertise lies in corporate and antitrust law, market regulation, and public policy. His expertise is supported by his experience working in private practice (e.g, Big Law), federal governments (e.g, CADE in Brazil; FTC in the US), local governments (e.g, Office of the Attorney General of the State of Florida) and international organizations (World Bank).As the Chief of Staff of Commissioner Luiz Hoffmann at CADE (the Brazilian Competition Authority), Rafael was responsible for advising the Commissioner on how to rule on complex and high-profile competition cases, both in the conduct and merger control domains. He also contributed to the development and implementation of competition policy, legislation, and guidelines, and represented CADE at national and international forums. Rafael also acted as an International Fellow at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the United States, where he gained valuable insights on merger investigations and litigation in the healthcare and retail sectors.Before that, he worked as an Attorney at Pinheiro Neto Advogados, one of Brazil\'s leading law firms, where he advised multinational clients on competition and international trade matters before authorities in Brazil and in foreign jurisdictions. His experience also includes working for EY, the São Paulo State Court of Appeals, and additional law firms.Rafael worked as a Research Assistant for Prof. William Kovacic and collaborates as a Fellow Associate with the GW Competition Law Center (CLC), where he conducts legal research and assist governments to improve the performance of institutions entrusted with the implementation of competition laws. In addition, he also served as an extern at the World Bank, within the Legal Department of its Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). At MIGA, Rafael conducted legal due diligence and drafted and transaction documents impacting MIGA\'s role in cross-border investment projects in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, including project finance and holds a LL.M. in Business and Finance Law at The George Washington University Law School, where he graduated with Highest Honors, a Master of Arts (MA) in Economics for Competition Law at King\'s College London. He also holds a Bachelor\'s Degree in Law from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP), and a Bachelor\'s Degree in Business Administration at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-SP).A Brazilian and Italian citizen, Rafael speaks Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian and German.
