WORK HISTORY
Research Engineer @Materials And Engineering Research Institute, Sheffield Hallam University
Sheffield, GB
To develop novel methods of high-sensitivity neutron detection. At Sheffield Hallam University, two neutron detectors are being built: A gadolinium-doped liquid scintillator detector and a boron-doped crystal scintillator detector. These have applications in security, nuclear data measurements and nuclear astrophysics. Strand 1 of the project is to design, construct, characterise and use these detectors for nuclear radiation measurements. Strand 2 is to use an existing detector, the \"Texas Active Target\"(TexAT) detector to measure the 16O(n,a)13C reaction, which is crucial in understanding neutron multiplication in nuclear reactors.
