ABOUT RACHEL TONKS

Part of the Digital, Data and Technology Leadership Team at Barnardo’s, as the Senior Manager for Business Partnering. This role allows me to share my love of technology whilst indirectly supporting children that need an extra helping hand in life, which was my intention when I went into education all those years ago. Barnardo’s exist to help children and young people feel safer, happier, healthier and more hopeful – and have somewhere they feel they belong - an incredible aim and one I am so pleased to play a small part in.Previous experience with Education Development Trust (a global education and skills not-for-profit) and many years in the recruitment industry, most recently at RSS Global working with fantastic brands: Blue Arrow, Career Teachers, Chadwick Nott, Medacs Global Group (across the UK, Ireland and AsiaPac) and Tate. In my time I\'ve also been a Business Analyst, Project Manager and IT Trainer, I’ve dabbled in a little code and prior to that was a Recruitment Consultant and Branch Administrator. I’m passionate about encouraging more women into tech careers and have previously founded and led Women in Tech forums as well as women’s BRGs. In my spare time I have mentored with The Girls’ Network and am a STEM Ambassador as well as dancing with a local dance empowerment group.
