About Rachel Hitzeman

I’m Rachel Hitzeman, a freshman at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business studying Accounting and Finance and a member of the Hutton Honors College. I grew up in a fifth-generation family business, Hitzeman Funeral Home, where I gained early exposure to leadership, accountability, and the importance of trust in service-based organizations. Watching my parents take on the responsibility of sustaining a 120-year legacy shaped my perspective on business operations and long-term decision-making. Through my own work in the business, I developed a strong attention to detail and a commitment to doing things right the first time.These experiences sparked my interest in how organizations operate sustainably and make sound financial decisions. On campus, I am actively involved in Women in Accounting, where I am building my professional network and learning from industry leaders. I am particularly interested in financial analysis and strategic decision-making, and I aim to apply my analytical skills and strong work ethic to create a meaningful impact in a future career in accounting or finance.
