About Rachel Kern
I have interests in research, international development, conflict management, economics, and sub-Saharan Africa. Learning about other cultures and bringing different people groups together is something that drives me, and this passion can be seen in my day-to-day activities.Currently, I am a first year Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) candidate at Georgetown University. Formerly I held multiple positions at the International Republican Institute (IRI) working on international development programs across the sub-Saharan Africa division. I also have experience working and living in West Africa in Nigeria and Ghana. Through all of my roles, I have learned to take initiative, to use effective social media marketing, to communicate effectively with others, and to be organized. I have also found that it is important to engage in open dialogues with others to produce quality partnerships.Skills: communication skills, writing, advanced French language proficiency, intermediate Akan (Twi) proficiency, social media, and teamwork.
