About Rachel E. Young
I recently completed my PhD in biomedical engineering, where I focused on developing lipid nanoparticles for placental gene therapy. My research sits at the intersection of drug delivery, nanotechnology, and maternal-fetal medicine, with the goal of transforming how we treat complications in pregnancy, such as preeclampsia. Now, I’m translating that work into real-world impact as a co-founder and Chief Scientific Officder of HeraNano Therapeutics, a biotech startup pioneering next-generation lipid nanoparticle platforms for women’s health. We’re building safe, effective and accessible technologies, aiming to bring gene therapy to a patient population long overlooked by traditional drug development.I’m passionate about applying cutting-edge science to unmet needs - and about building an inclusive biotech ecosystem that reflects the diversity of the patients we aim to serve.
