About Rachel B. Valdez
With over 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur and leader, I am the Chief Operating Officer at Forterra, a Washington-based land trust that leverages land to address the most pressing environmental and social challenges of our time. I hold a ABD in Media Psychology from Fielding Graduate University, where I explore the impact of media and technology on human behavior, cognition, and emotions.At Forterra, I lead the strategic vision and execution of people, organizational culture, and technology, legal, strategic initiatives and operations, with the goal of fostering a healthy environment and resilient communities for all. I am passionate about finding innovative ways to do the most good with land-based solutions, such as cooperatives, social impact funds, conservation easements, and policy advocacy. I also apply my media psychology expertise to enhance the communication, engagement, and collaboration of our diverse and talented team, as well as our external partners and stakeholders.
