I joined the SFVS board in 2023 and stepped into the role of President during a period of significant organizational transition in early 2025. My focus has been on stabilization and revitalization: strengthening governance and oversight, and creating the transparent structures necessary to return the organization to its members. I am honored to work alongside a dedicated team of board members and volunteers whose collective efforts have led to a renewed momentum, including a successful 2025 Vegfest and a significant growth in membership.Crisis Management & Stabilization: Stepped into the Presidency following a board vote for dissolution and a period of toxic internal conflict. Averted the organization’s collapse by forming an Interim Board, restoring community trust, and navigating legal threats by securing pro-bono counsel.Talent Recruitment & Capacity Building: Rebuilt the organization\'s operational capacity by recruiting a highly engaged Board of Directors and lead volunteers. This included identifying and empowering key people to take ownership of core functions, such as an experienced committee chair for Vegfest 2025. By delegating the festival’s planning and execution to dedicated volunteers, I was able to focus on the high-level governance and re-organization necessary for the organization\'s stabilization.Rapid Growth & Re-engagement: Led a complete organizational turnaround that resulted in an 80% year-over-year increase in membership through radical transparency, improved governance, and a return to consistent, community-oriented programming.Programming Oversight: Supported the successful expansion of the SFVS calendar by providing the institutional support and just enough structure needed for volunteer leaders to excel. Governance & Pipeline: Successfully transitioned SFVS from an emergency Interim Board to a highly engaged, permanent, member-elected Board of Directors, creating a sustainable leadership pipeline for the first time in years.

More recently, I assumed the Presidency of the San Francisco Vegan Society (SFVS) during a leadership crisis that nearly dissolved the 50-year-old organization. By prioritizing transparency, collaborative governance and local community building, we achieved an 80% membership increase in one year and delivered a record-breaking VegFest in 2025.My \"Why\": From Education to the Plant-Based SectorAfter fully overcoming a crippling autoimmune disease solely by adopting a whole-food plant-based diet, I pivoted my focus from the education sector to the expanding plant-based movement. I believe that reducing human reliance on animal products is critical to averting environmental catastrophe and that both healthcare and food systems require radical reform to turn around U.S. health outcomes.I am always looking to connect with those passionate about bringing about a vegan world.
