As the founder and Headmistress of the Raleigh School of Burlesque, I lead one of the Southeast’s premier performing arts programs dedicated to inclusivity, body positivity, and confidence through dance. I oversee all aspects of school operations, from curriculum development to event production, while mentoring students at every stage of their artistic journey.Key responsibilities: • Designed and launched the Raleigh School of Burlesque (2024), establishing the school’s mission and brand identity. • Develop and teach a wide range of classes, workshops, and intensives, training students in performance, history, and technique. • Manage and mentor a team of instructors, fostering a supportive environment for professional and student growth. • Produce recitals and live performance showcases, coordinating talent, venues, and technical teams. • Build community partnerships, develop sponsorships, and collaborate with local businesses and nonprofits. • Oversee budgets, marketing, student enrollment, and operational systems to ensure sustainable growth. • Promote inclusivity, body positivity, and gender/sexuality diversity within the school and the wider performing arts community.Key achievements: • Taught and mentored hundreds of students since 2011, with many graduating to perform and produce their own shows. • Produced themed showcases that combine live entertainment, education, and community building. • Established RSOB as a welcoming, accessible institution that values social and economic equality in the arts.
