ABOUT RACHEL TALBOT

Hi, I\'m Rachel! I\'m 19 and I\'m from Angus in Scotland! I have a passion for politics, and I try to use my lived experiences to make a change for other people. Growing up, I faced a lot of issues with bullying both in person and online, and so I work to try and change the policies put in place for these things to ensure that young people have a better experience getting help with them than I did.I have been involved in several campaigns over the last 7 years, mainly focusing on online safety and anti-bullying. After being a part of a local campaign called Angus thinkb4youtype, which led to the national launch of a toolkit developed for schools all across Scotland, and the local council adopting our recommendations, I then became involved with the NSPCC\'s first-ever Young People\'s Board for Change.With the YPBC, I spent two years campaigning for the Online Safety Act and had some fantastic opportunities to share my story with MPs and Lords both in Westminster and at a Party conference. I now work with #iwill to promote youth social action and advocate for further change to protect young people in school, at home, and online.At Liverpool Hope, I study Childhood & Youth with Politics. I am incredibly passionate about this degree as it allows me to continue to research the problems that young people face every day and how we can improve these issues through legislation. After finishing my degree, I hope to study my Master\'s in Comparative Social Policy, or Public Policy, which will give me even more experience before I go on to work with children\'s charities to continue pushing for changes in legislation.
