ABOUT RACHEL RAY MCFARLANE

Named one of CBC’s 30 Best Classical Musicians Under 30 in 2024, Rachel McFarlane is a rising Canadian composer crafting works for leading ensembles, Film, and television. Rachel has recently been declared Valedictorian for Berklee College of Music’s 2025 Graduating class and is the first person of color to graduate with the Screen Scoring Double Major, and the Video Game Scoring Major. While at Berklee, Rachel’s journey has been fueled by a commitment to amplify underrepresented voices in music. Rachel has been recognized through honors like the Bill Pierce MLK Scholarship, the EA/Berklee Charting Change Scholarship, the Women in Game Audio Award, and the Best of Berklee Trailblazer Award. She made history as the first composer commissioned by The Royal Conservatory’s Oscar Peterson Program, a program dedicated to providing high quality, accessible music education to young musicians from underserved communities. Rachel was a composer in residence, composing music that honored Oscar Peterson’s legacy by promoting diversity, and empowering the next generation of artists. Rachel has been a contracted composer for Red Bull since 2024, and recently travelled to Vienna to record and conduct her orchestral piece at the world renowned Synchron Stage. Red Bulls Music Library, “Sounds of Red Bull”, aim to hire composers to create unique, cinematic scores for their commercials and other media.A sponsored composer for industry leaders like Orchestral Tools, Spitfire Audio, and Eastwest Sounds, Rachel merges creativity with entrepreneurship by posting educational videos on writing music, demystifying composition for global audiences.
