About Rachel Jacobson
I’m a founder and builder with more than 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with deep expertise in fundraising, board governance, capital deployment, community building, and organizational growth. In 2005, I launched Film Streams, growing it from concept to two landmark cinemas that anchor Omaha’s cultural life. The Ruth Sokolof Theater opened in 2007 alongside Saddle Creek Records’ Slowdown, and in 2018 Film Streams reopened the historic Dundee Theater, a renovated 1925 neighborhood cinema. From 2020 to 2025, I served as President of Heritage Omaha, where I led more than $250 million in civic capital campaigns and building projects. These included Kiewit Luminarium, a major new science center on Omaha’s riverfront, and the city’s new Central Library, one of the largest privately funded investments in public libraries in the country. I’m currently building Pedal, a digital platform that connects mission and money in one shared space, helping nonprofit boards and executives make grounded, mission-aligned decisions together.I’m a graduate of the University of Illinois and a mom of two daughters. I bring both entrepreneurial vision and a long-term commitment to building organizations that serve their communities.
