ABOUT RACHEL JACKSON
As a graduate student currently attending Duke University\'s Nicholas School of the Environment, hard work and passion are terms I am accustomed to. In the pursuit of obtaining my B.S at Colorado State University, I received the University Honors distinction and was on the Dean\'s List all 4 years- all while being heavily involved in my community. I merged my love of botany with my passion for social justice in my undergraduate career and am currently practicing this union at Duke. I believe there is more to this field than just the aspect of science. The social component is just as, if not more, important in this predominantly white field. Once I receive my M.E.M, I will work on the federal or state level as a landscape/conservation biologist. Everyone has the right to live on healthy land. It is my goal to make sure the voices of underrepresented communities are heard as I continue to fight environmental injustices.
