About Rachel Himes

Rachel is an experienced mid-level designer and creative with a demonstrated history of working in the architecture & interior design industry. Her primary experience lies in hospitality, retail, commercial office design and creative workplace interiors. As a design professional with a passion for pre-fabrication construction technologies and sustainable design practices, she strives to minimize impact to the planet and offset carbon emissions through utilization of mass timber. This involves leadership in a recent Mithun R+D study \'Mass Timber in Schools: Building for Wellness\'- researching the biophilic impacts to students and a kit-of-parts approach to build cost-competitive mass timber schools. She continues to design for positive change and achieve place-based solutions for every project. Her dedication to social impact design processes and community engagement through the design of The School of El Pantanal, Granada, Nicaragua has lent itself to involvement in affordable housing projects across the Puget Sound Region. Rachel is an active member of ULI Northwest and pursuing architectural licensure.
