   We chose Virginia for the untold promise in the land and soil. But really, what we couldn’t resist was the challenge. When they said it couldn’t be done — make a world-class wine in this part of the world — we set out to prove otherwise. Our wine is neither Napa nor Bordeaux, but uniquely and unapologetically our own. From the very beginning, we intended to produce a wine that defies all conventional expectations. Nearly two decades of meticulous study, hard work, and an unyielding quest for perfection has culminated in an expression of terroir that is remarkable and enduring.Everything we do at RdV is in pursuit of creating the next great American wine - a wine that is the most complete and compelling embodiment of our Virginia terror. We intervene as little as possible in the natural process, letting the earth and the elements come together to create something sublime. All of the grapes are grown on our estate and shepherded with care from vine to bottle.
