ABOUT RACHEL GERRITY

I’m trauma-informed therapist committed to creating warm, affirming spaces where people can explore who they are, heal from what they’ve been through, and move toward the lives they want to live. I recently completed my master’s in clinical counseling from Alvernia University and just received my LAPC, and am in the process of receiving my NCC credentials. My clinical work is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for each client’s lived experience. I specialize in gender-affirming care for LGBTQIA+ individuals, and I’m especially passionate about working with those navigating trauma, dissociation, identity exploration, body image concerns, and codependency. I also have a strong interest in helping clients unlearn internalized weight stigma and heal their relationships with food and their bodies. Before becoming a therapist, I spent years as an Equity stage manager in professional theatre. That experience taught me how to hold space for big emotions, communicate clearly under pressure, and lead with empathy, which are skills I bring into the therapy room every day. Whether I’m facilitating LGBTQIA+ support groups, engaging in research on weight bias and gender identity, or sitting with someone in the thick of a hard moment, I strive to show up with presence, transparency, and care. I’m also exploring doctoral programs to further specialize in trauma and dissociation, especially as they intersect with gender and body-based oppression.
