About Rachel Charles
Over the last 15 years, Jesus has helped me discover and develop two great loves - Leadership and Training. My leadership ethos is simple and powerful: engage the whole person, not just the employee. Genuinely care about the human being and not just their numbers. Real love includes discipline and accountability, so I\'m not talking about tolerating or, God forbid, rewarding bad behavior. Yes, I used the word \'love\', which means putting the other person first. Ergo, having the tough conversations whether you want to or not, because it\'s what is best for THEM. It means noticing that something is off with a team member and taking them aside to ask them if everything is okay, even when you have a hundred other things to do. If you don\'t love your team, you\'re doing it wrong. True leadership is fiercely and intentionally sacrificial; it takes the blame when things go wrong and gives the credit to the team when accolades come. It\'s NOT an ego trip, and not a way to dump the work you don\'t want to do on others, and then take all the credit.Here\'s my training ethos: a good training program should aim to change the way people think about their job, or process, or the task at hand. It should focus on the big picture, help transform a person from being someone who just checks items off a list to someone who is truly invested in their own success. In a nutshell (too late?), I want to make people better, holistically.
