About Rachel Bussert
I am a second-year law student at Penn State Law University Park interested in learning about contracts, insurance, and property law, specifically title insurance. I had the opportunity to explore this interest during the summer of 2024 as an Underwriting Intern with First American Title Insurance, Co. In this role, I issued letters of indemnity, researched various legal issues, and created a 50-state survey on the issuance of ALTA 14 and 14.1. I look forward to continuing to learn more about legal issues that impact title while expanding my legal knowledge to include other areas of law. Before deciding to attend law school, I worked in dental insurance and public relations. Both of these careers allowed me to enhance my attention to detail as I worked on filing insurance claims on behalf of patients while working for The Smile Associates and while creating and posting content as a Digital Strategist for Our Blood Institute. Additionally, throughout my previous career in public relations, the importance of brand integrity has been a recurring theme. Protecting trademarks is an integral part of building a strong, recognizable brand. While working with Our Blood Institute as we merged four different sub-brands to operate under one brand identity, I managed multiple social media accounts, the primary having over 35 thousand followers, and ensured the trust our publics had in the previous name and brand were maintained during the transition. Thus, I am also interested in learning more about intellectual property law, and I am taking an introductory class on the topic in the fall of 2024. I shared the knowledge I gained through my employment with Our Blood Institute and my undergraduate experience at a conference in Nicaragua where I lectured on website and brand development, Meta advertising, graphic design, and social media engagement.
