Pre pandemic I would tell people my major is supply chain management and nine times out of ten their follow up question would be,\"What\'s Supply Chain Management?\". I don\'t seem to get those questions as often now since supply chain has been the center of attention for the past three years. While the supply chain is one of the most important departments in the world, that is not the only thing that drew me to it. The impact the supply chain can have on our world/environment is initially what peaked my interest. What we can and do with supply chain will truly change the course of our planets future. Working for Rivian Automotive has given me the opportunity to explore both supply chain management and sustainability. I am currently a Purchasing Manager for Rivian Automotive. Everyday is full of surprises which keeps it exciting. Rivian is a fast paced environment, and has taught me how to adapt quickly while focusing on the goal at hand. Communicating cross-functionally while understanding and executing every day responsibilities along with large projects is an essential part of my position. I have been given the opportunity to work one-on-one with suppliers and stakeholders every day. For my Tail Spend Analyses project I used excel to analyze the data from our procurement system to explore cost savings opportunities. The data alerted us to where we are currently spending money and where we should direct that spend.
