Biology Lab Manager Responsibilities: • Oversee the daily operations of a busy biology laboratory, ensuring the space runs smoothly and efficiently. • Coordinate with internal engineers and external contractors to manage lab infrastructure, maintenance, and installations. • Manage lab booking systems and schedule equipment use to maximise resource availability and minimise downtime. • Lead health and safety compliance within the lab, including conducting risk assessments, maintaining safety documentation, and implementing best practices. • Act as the primary point of contact for lab users, supporting scientific teams and resolving issues related to space, equipment, and safety. • Monitor inventory levels and manage procurement of consumables and equipment to support uninterrupted research activities. • Support onboarding and training for new lab users, ensuring awareness of lab protocols and safety standards.Site Optimisation Lead Responsibilities: • Lead the continuous improvement (CI) strategy for the site, aligning initiatives with business objectives and operational efficiency goals. • Maintain and track a site-wide CI project portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered on time and deliver measurable impact. • Facilitate ideation sessions and workshops to drive engagement in improvement efforts across teams. • Collect and validate data to log cost savings and productivity gains resulting from successful improvement initiatives. • Report on CI performance to site leadership, highlighting progress, barriers, and opportunities for further optimisation. • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to identify and address systemic inefficiencies. • Foster a culture of innovation and accountability by promoting lean methodologies and problem-solving tools.
