ABOUT RACHAEL POLOWYJ

An analytic, yet creative individual with a strong passion for the cosmetics industry. Achieved a masters degree in Cosmetic Science, with a diploma in professional studies for a one year R&D Chemist placement. Achieved runner up for the 2015 Laura Marshall award for ‘most innovative cosmetic product’ and ‘best placement year award’ from the Cosmetics, Toiletries and Perfumery Association (CTPA). Presented thesis as a poster at the International Federation of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC) Congress, Munich 2018 with a bursary awarded from the Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCS), which was later published in Cosmetics & Toiletries scientific magazine globally. Contributing author to a book explaining the fundamentals of Cosmetic Science in cooperation with the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Society of Cosmetic Scientists UK - published in 2020. In 2025, featured on a London College of Fashion Podcast titled \'Careers in Fashion: Unlocking Your Dream Career in the Beauty Industry\' for Spotify. A former columnist for Cosmetics & Toiletries Magazine for a section called \'Read the Label\' which reviewed finished products on the market by looking closely at the ingredients used and why. Now writing on a freelance basis for magazines such as Cosmetics Business and BBC Science Focus, with various features and quotes in Who What Wear, Byrdie, Good On You etc.Working full time as a Global Business Development Manager, with a focus on Indie Beauty Brands. This role identifies and partners with emerging indie brands worldwide, connecting them with cutting-edge ingredients and offering strategic formulation support. Also as Global Active Ingredients Leader - driving the development and execution of a global strategy to ensure IMCD maintains an optimised and future‑focused portfolio of active ingredients.A background in sales, laboratory, management, technical knowledge, PR, editorial and product testing.
