About Rachael Cohn
When I went to graduate school I thought it was to build my education to work in consulting. With little real world experience I accepted a position in Human Resources thinking I would just work for a few years in the field to get the experience I needed. And then it happened - I found a career I love. I have the privilege of working with employees to achieve their career goals, provide coaching to leaders and lead culture, inclusion and wellness initiatives. Sometimes I tell people I work in Human Resources and they ask if that means I hire people all day. I respond that it’s part of my job and then elaborate where I really spend my time - partnering with senior leaders to develop talent strategies that will enable business growth. Those people usually ask me if I’m a consultant and I tell that I am. sort of.I have a high degree of curiosity and find myself always asking “why” questions. I challenge others’ ideas not necessarily because I disagree with them but because I want to know how they reached their decision. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to work with some great Subject Matter Experts who gave me a solid foundation but enough room to let me find my own way. I would rather try things on my own and make some mistakes learning along the way, than have someone tell me how to prescriptively do something. I have been motivated working for several of Danaher\'s Operating Companies which all encourage curiosity, risk taking and experimentation.When I’m not doing the work I love, I am cycling, hiking, trying a new recipe in the kitchen, traveling to new places or enjoying some great wine. If I’m lucky I can combine several of these activities.
