ABOUT MELANIE MCQUAID

I am a 5-time World Champion professional triathlete, writer, and coach. Recently ticked a bucket list goal off my list when I became the oldest professional athlete to podium a pro Ironman event (2nd IM Maryland and 3rd IM Coeur D\'Alene 2023) at 50. Oldest pro to qualify and finish Kona Ironman World Championships in the process.Through racing, coaching, and ambassadorship and I am learning as much as I can about performance after 40 to become the best advocate and coach I can be for athletes in this demographic.I have raced as a pro athlete in four different sports and am proud to hold titles in: mountain biking (endurance, cross country and short track) and triathlon (XTERRA, ITU cross triathlon, Olympic, Sprint, and half Ironman). MelRad Coaching is for professional and age group athletes in triathlon, road cycling and mountain bike racing. As a pro, I had the opportunity to work in media including television hosting and producing, talk radio and print magazines. My first foray on the internet was a website I started in 1997, 10 years later dabbled in Youtube with Racergirl TV in 2007 (early version of current Youtube channels). I also branded/managed an Age Group triathlon team and a professional women\'s mountainbike team.Currently I enjoy being a regular contributor to Triathlon Magazine Canada.More fun projects in the mix for 2024. as well as a stab at making that age record for professional Ironman podiums one year older.
