ABOUT RABBA MELISSA SCHOLTEN-GUTIERREZ
Rabba Melissa Scholten-Gutierrez is an engaging educator and dynamic community builder with over a decade in Jewish communal leadership, ranging from working in Federations and foundations, to doing curriculum and non-profit development for a forest preschool in Atlanta, GA. She is currently the Executive Director of the International Rabbinic Fellowship and on the development team at Denver Academy of Torah (the only K-12 modern orthodox day school in a 600 mile radius!). Melissa loves to be engaged in meaningful volunteer work and recently competed her term as founding advisory chair for A Mitzvah to Eat and on the MACoM: Metro Atlanta Community Mikvah board. She is known for her uniquely joyful Judaism and Torah based social-justice work.Melissa has rabbinic ordination from Yeshivat Maharat, a Masters in Social Work from University of Illinois, and is a graduate of M²: The Institute for Experiential Jewish Education’s Senior Educators Cohort 7. She has also learned intensively at Nishmat and Pardes in Jerusalem. In her free time, Rabba Melissa enjoys writing and has been published in several print and digital forums.
