Joining FBomb Angels has been a transformative experience that I never imagined possible. My journey to becoming an angel investor is a testament to resilience, perseverance, and the power of community.As a young African American woman, I faced immense challenges, including homelessness at 16. Growing up in poverty, I was never taught about investing, securing investors, or even the basics of business and entrepreneurship. Yet, I carried within me a burning desire to learn, grow, and make meaningful contributions to my community and the healthcare field.Building Childress Nursing Services from the ground up has been a journey filled with countless lessons. As the founder of the Seattle, Washington metropolitan area\'s premier fertility and maternity reproductive home health care company, focused on empowering and providing Complete Nurturing Solutions to women and their families from pre-conception to post-delivery, I have gained invaluable insights into the business world. This experience has not only allowed me to grow as an entrepreneur but also to share my knowledge with others.Now, as a proud member of FBomb Angels, I have the incredible opportunity to invest in early-stage startups founded or co-founded by women. I believe that investing in women is not only a smart business decision but also a way to foster innovation and drive positive change in our world. I am honored to be part of a community where women come together to learn about and practice investing, supporting each other\'s dreams and making a significant impact.I am excited about the future and the opportunity to invest in and support women-led businesses that are making a stand in this world. My journey from humble beginnings in rural Arkansas to becoming a healthcare leader and entrepreneur has been shaped by resilience and determination. Overcoming homelessness at 16 fueled my passion for inspiring others in less fortunate situations. I was honored to be featured as ABC World News Tonight\'s Person of the Week for overcoming adversity and becoming a first-generation college graduate, finishing in the top 1% of my class, underscoring my dedication to achieving academic excellence.With over 20 years of experience in healthcare, I’ve dedicated my career to improving healthcare access and quality. As the Founder of Childress Nursing Services (CNS), the Seattle metro area’s premier fertility and maternity reproductive home healthcare company, and the 1st of its kind in WA state, I help women get pregnant, stay pregnant, and successfully transition from hospital to home. Credited with coining the term \"home fertility nurse,\" I\'ve developed the 1st official home fertility nurse training program in the U.S. Through CNS, I’m trailblazing this field, ensuring women receive compassionate, high-quality care during the most critical times of their fertility and maternity journeys. I’m also working diligently to provide more opportunities in this field to expand access and shape its future.My background includes biomedical research with Yale, NASA, and NIEHS/NIH, solidifying my love for scientific research and innovation that I’ve carried forward into my entrepreneurial endeavors.In addition to my business achievements, I serve as Vice-Chair of the King County Board of Health and the Washington State Board of Nursing. These roles allow me to influence public health policies and nursing practices, furthering my mission to improve healthcare for all.I’ve been recognized as a PSBJ 2023 Up & Comer Healthcare Leader and a 2024 Top 40 Under 40 awardee. A Goldman Sachs 10KSB Scholar, I’ve honed my entrepreneurial and leadership skills, equipping me to support other aspiring entrepreneurs.As an Honorary Coach for the WNBA Seattle Storm, I’ve inspired and motivated others, especially women & young girls, allowing me to merge my love for sports with my commitment to empowerment and community engagement.I’m also an international speaker and author of several books, sharing my insights globally to inspire others to overcome challenges and pursue their dreams.My journey shows the power of perseverance & belief in making a meaningful impact, advocating for better healthcare and empowerment.More about my initiatives:
