ABOUT QUENTIN R. TYLER

As the Senior Associate Dean for Outreach and Engagement and Director of Michigan State University Extension, I lead a team of over 700 faculty and staff and manage a budget of over 106 million. I am responsible for providing overall vision, direction, and prioritization for all aspects of the organization, including strategic vision, operations, educational programs, development, and external engagement across Michigan\'s 83 counties.In particular as Director of MSU Extension, I hold a pivotal leadership role focused on extending the university’s resources and research to communities across Michigan. This position involves overseeing MSU Extension’s operations, which include developing and implementing programs that address local needs in areas such as agriculture, health, and community development. In the capacity of Senior Associate Dean for Outreach and Engagement, I ensure MSU Extension collaborates with colleges across Michigan State University, MSU faculty and staff, and Michigan’s Tribal Colleges and Universities to promote and support outreach initiatives that connect academic research with practical applications, fostering partnerships between the university and external stakeholdersI have three degrees (PHD, MS, BS) all from the University of Kentucky and a certificate from Cornell University of Labor and Relations. I also hold a certificate in Management and Leadership in Higher Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education. I am passionate about promoting access and opportunity in higher education and beyond. I have served in several leadership capacities at the local, state and national levels.
