Applied Research: I lead the ZeroHungerAI (ZHAI) project at the Development Impact Group’s AI Lab, where we leverage news reporting and remote sensing data in traditional ML + GenAI models to predict food crises. Our pilot improves forecasts across 37 countries by up to 46%, predicting crises as far as a year in advance and thereby enabling anticipatory actions that save lives. With a team of 8 scientists and engineers, we are now building a live, open-access AI platform covering 82 countries - to be launched in 2026.Project Management: I lead our AI Lab’s growth efforts, including 70+ stakeholder engagements, and act as focal point for our partnership with Google.org.Achievements: I raised additional $3+ million in funding for research projects, built a stellar team of researchers and developers for our ZHAI project, and support the launch of ImpactAI, the World Bank’s first AI-powered global public product.
