About Penelope V. Griffin
I am a dedicated human services professional with over a 25 years of experience in community advocacy, program development, and nonprofit leadership. My work centers on empowering individuals and families through access to safe housing, education, employment, and trauma-informed support services. My passion for service began with AmeriCorps VISTA (2009–2011), where I contributed to a juvenile re-entry initiative and later led a Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School in Newark, NJ—serving over 180 youth in a literacy-based summer program. Since then, I’ve continued to build a career rooted in compassion, equity, and community resilience.During my academic journey at Warren County Community College, I co-founded Successful Women in Motion (S.W.I.M.), a women’s empowerment group that helped over 30 women reach their academic goals. I later earned a B.S. in Organizational Behavior and Applied Psychology from Albright University (Magna Cum Laude) and an M.S. in Business Management and Leadership from Western Governors University.Currently, I serve as the Facilites Operations Manager at The Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Warren County, NJ (DASACC), where I oversee day-to-day operations, maintenance, and safety for our three locations. My previous roles at DASACC include casework and development, each reinforcing my commitment to holistic, client-centered care. I continue to work to strengthen internal systems that support survivors and their families. Outside of human services, I’m also a creative entrepreneur. A former comic book colorist, I now co-own MaliqMania Comics, an independent publishing venture dedicated to diverse storytelling. I also have a background in acting and have appeared in both stage and screen productions.
